5/23/2012 Our last meeting of the semester will be BATSU GAME DAY!

We've reached the end of the semester. To kick off summer break we'll be watching the latest installment of Gaku No Tsukai's Batsu Games, a punishment game where regular comedian contestants are forced to endure a day without laughing or else they will be struck with a painful object. It's as hilarious as it sounds. See you there.

5/16/2012 MACROSS PLUS DAY!!

Missed the last few updates. My bad. The last few weeks have brought us Pre-Ghibli Miyazaki Day and Crap Day. This Wed we'll be watching my all time favorite anime series in its entirety, Macross Plus! This four episode OVA series marks a staple in the anime industry as being one of the first anime series to successfully blend CG with cel animation. ("successfully" being the key word.)

4/ 25/ 2012 80's Day!

That's right! Considered by many to be the golden age of anime we'll be selecting from a healthy dose of anime from the 1980's. I myself will be providing Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada. (The three series that made up Robotech) We will also have Dominion Tank Police as well a few others. See you tonight!

Gundam Day! 4/18/2012

First off a quick recap. Last week we had 70's day and selected a few titles from that era. The titles included Heidi: Girl of the Alps, Invincible Superman Zambot 3, Lupin III (Season 1), and Galaxy Express 999: The Movie. Good choices overall.

Our next meeting will be Gundam day. The entire schedule will consist of various Gundam series and possibly movies. Like the previous week, the schedule will be made during the club but it's looking like Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 and 08th MS Team are pretty much guaranteed to make an appearance.

Today I'm asking everyone to bring in a few titles for us to watch in the club. As long as it's not he tai (or Bayblade) anything goes! We'll watch as much of it as we can in the time that we have. See you there.

Schedule for 3/21/2012

To follow up on last week's schedule, we'll be watching Mamoru Oshii's classics, Patlabor: The Movie and Patlabor 2: The Movie. Both are considered two of his best films. Don't worry if you missed out on last weeks Patlabor marathon. Both films stand well enough on their own (I should know, I saw them both before ever seeing the series.) See you there.

Schedule 3/14/2012

As mentioned before, we're changing things up this semester by introducing more themed schedules and mini-marathons. We'll also have entire meetings scheduled by you, the club attendees. This week, we'll be viewing the original Patlabor OVA. This seven episode classic is one of the early directing efforts by Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers, Urusei Yatsura: The Beautiful Dreamer.)

Our First Meeting of 2012 Is Among Us!

Hello everyone. First off I'd like to apologize for the lack of updates but it appears I did not make enough people aware that this blog even existed. For those of you wondering when our first meeting will be, we have decided to move Genshiken meetings to Wednesday evenings at 6pm. Our first meeting will be on March 7th. As for what we will be watching, we're still deciding that. Aside from the day, we may be making a few other changes but we'll still be enjoying plenty of anime throughout the semester. I'll be posting any and all updates here as they come including what room we will be in. Check back.

This Week's Schedule 12/09/11

It's been a while since the last update. That's probably because apparently no one in the club actually checks the site. So next semester (hopefully) we'll be putting greater emphasis on blog updates so that everyone can be up to speed.

This week may or may be our last week of the semester. It all comes down to everyone's Final situation. But regardless, we'll FINALLY be checking out another Batsu Game! "No Laughing Onsens 2003."

If we have time, we may also check out a movie I've been wanting your reactions on for quite some time. But I won't spoil it here. We'll have to wait and see.

It looks like the campus is going to be closed this Friday, so we will be postponing our next meeting to the following Friday. (I promise it has nothing to do with Skyrim.)

Schedule For 10/21/2011

What's this? A punctual update?!

Due to the positive response we got from last week's High School of the Dead mini-marathon, it appears we'll be continuing on with the show for the rest of the month. In the spirit of Halloween, we'll be watching High School of the Dead episodes 5-8. After our break, we'll then follow up with the a film we should have watched years ago. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust! It's one of my personal favorites in the horror genre yet nobody seems to acknowledge it as horror at all.

Schedule for 10/14/11

This past Friday we had changed it up a little and started with a feature length movie, One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island. Everyone seemed to like it so if everyone's down I don't think we'll ever have a shortage of One Piece to show. We also had a couple of new shows for this season, Hunter X Hunter (2011), Persona 4 (which is almost like an animated strategy guide).

As for this coming Friday, we'll be viewing the brand new Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE. Let's cross our fingers than Bandai isn't wasting our time again with this one. I for one will probably never forgive them for Gundam 00. We'll also have something Halloween themed for you as well. I'll be updating the final schedule by the end of the week.
